Why we always recommend zinc oxide sunscreen — and why it might be all your skin ever needs.
At our practice, sunscreen is a topic that comes up in almost every appointment.

Zinc Oxide is Our Choice!
Whether you’re undergoing laser hair removal or simply trying to keep your skin looking its best as you age, sun protection is non-negotiable. And after years of advising clients, our recommendation keeps coming back to the same ingredient: zinc oxide.
- Broad spectrum protection – naturally. Zinc oxide sits on top of the skin and physically reflects both UVA and UVB rays. No chemical reactions needed, no waiting for it to absorb. It works the moment you apply it.
- Gentle on sensitive skin. After a laser session, your skin needs calm, not chemicals. Zinc oxide is one of the most non-irritating sunscreen ingredients available — it’s even used in diaper rash cream. That says it all.
- Stable in sunlight. Unlike some chemical filters that break down with UV exposure, zinc oxide stays effective all day. You’re protected from the first ray to the last.
- Simple and affordable. You don’t need an expensive multi-ingredient formula. A good zinc oxide sunscreen — SPF 30 or higher — gives you everything you need without the markup. For our laser clients specifically, protecting treated skin from the sun isn’t just a good idea — it’s essential for your results and your recovery. UV exposure on freshly lasered skin can cause hyperpigmentation and slow healing. Zinc oxide is our go-to recommendation because it’s effective, trustworthy, and kind to skin that’s doing the hard work of healing.
- And beyond your treatments? Daily zinc oxide use is one of the single most powerful things you can do to slow visible skin aging. Consistent sun protection over time — more than any serum or treatment — is what keeps skin looking young and even-toned.
