25 Years of Progress
When we began our practice in 1985, life was different in many ways. At that time,
the only method of permanent hair removal available was electrolysis. Electrolysis
was performed using epilators that used a traditional transistor technology. Serious
talk of using laser technology to eliminate unwanted hair was still at least a decade
away. Rather, the first big innovation that we experienced was an innovation in
the epilators used for electrolysis.
By the early 1990's manufacturers of epilators began to introduce machines that
replaced the older transistor components with modern computerized components. In
many cases, this resulted in epilators that provided more comfort for clients. Almost
immediately, we converted our practice to the use of computerized epilators, offering
our clients the latest technological advancement along with the benefit of more
comfortable treatments.
At about the same time, the industry introduced disposable probes for electrolysis.
Previously, the probes were not disposable and required sterilization between uses.
We quickly switched from using reusable probes to disposable probes, selecting the
highest quality probe manufactured in the world. The 1990's continued to offer additional
improvements in sanitation products and practices. We voluntarily added all of the
latest precautions to our everyday routine long before the Rhode Island Department
of Health required all practitioners in our field to adopt these new practices in
1998.
The 90's also witnessed the introduction of laser technology for use in hair removal.
By the late 1990's laser hair removal clinics had appeared in much of the country.
We investigated the new laser machines in their early days and found that they were
not consistent in their results and could only be used on a very select group of
people. Over the next several years the laser technology was refined. It became
effective for use on a broad range of skin types and produced consistently good
results in treating black and brown hairs. It was at that point that we began our
in-depth investigation of the best laser hair removal systems on the market.
In early 2007, we introduced laser hair removal into our practice using the "gold
standard" in worldwide laser technology, the Lumenis Lightsheer Laser System. Since
that time we have treated hundreds of clients with laser hair removal and have had
impressive results.
This brings us to 2010. After 25 years of progress and change we find ourselves
in a unique position. We are the only hair removal practice in Rhode Island that
offers both electrolysis and laser hair removal. For each procedure, we couple the
best technology available with practitioners who have the years of experience and
the professional integrity necessary to create and implement a plan for each of
our clients individual needs.
