Summer Newsletter - July 2011
Greetings!
Summer is here and it's the best time to enjoy all that Rhode Island has to offer.
If you have been following our blogs, you may have noticed that we just don't focus
on hair removal. Our blogs are packed with valuable health and diet information,
along with the tools that you need to take better care of your health. Our goal
is not only to help you look your best, but also to help you feel your best so ultimately
you will look your best!
In continuation with our goal, this summer's newsletter will focus on ways to help
you enjoy the summer season with your family and friends while still eating healthy.
Eating healthy doesn't mean that we still can't enjoy some of our Rhode Island summer
favorites. Take a look at some of our favorite places in the Ocean State and enjoy!
Finally, to help you look your best and be care-free this summer, we are offering
a limited time special on laser hair removal for your underarms. See our special
coupon below.
Happy summer!

jazz & wine on August 4, 2011. McGrath's Clambake will be ringing the dinner bell
with a traditional menu cooked over hot rocks and seaweed. Menu includes Rhode Island
clear broth chowder, lobster, barbecued chicken, mussels, steamers, salad greens,
corn on the cob, chourico and watermelon. Wine tasting & chowder from 6 to 7pm.

Cool jazz performed by the Lois Vaughan Trio in celebration of "Bridgefest 2011".
Red Parrot
www.redparrotrestaurant.com/
Located in the heart of downtown Newport, the Red Parrot offers endless healthy
choices for your family. My favorite is the fresh Lobster Salad that's packed with
chunks of succulent lobster and tropical fruit. There's nothing better during the
summer than enjoying a glass of wine and fresh lobster in an open air window seat
overlooking lower Thames Street!
Pig Roast
www.ripigroast.com/
Are you interested in celebrating a special event with something different? Try
a pig roast. It can be an easy and healthy alternative to a traditional barbeque.
Last year, I experienced my first pig roast supplied by Bellucci Pig Farm. I was
pleasantly surprised to see how juicy, yet lean the pork actually was. Bellucci
Pig Farm has been providing old-fashioned fresh, all-natural, steroid-free pig roasts
throughout Rhode Island for more than 30 years. These pigs are slowly roasted over
an all-natural hardwood fire, creating the juiciest and most flavorful pork that
you'll ever eat. The pig roasts are available in all sizes and can accommodate 10
to 500 of your guests. Once you try it, I'm sure that it will become a summer favorite.

Farmers' Markets
farmersmarket.com
Farmers' markets are one of the easiest places to find tasty, healthy harvests of
Rhode Island farms. You'll find a diversity of foods fresh from the fields and meet
the people who grow your meal. Plus, every dollar paid directly to a local grower
is a dollar reinvested into Rhode Island communities. Check out this local food
guide and explore the vast array of daily Farmers' Markets throughout the state
along with an abundance of local farms, farm stands, and recipes incorporating the
abundant, fresh produce from the farmers' markets.
A Ramble Through The Flavors Of Rhode Island - A benefit for Farm Fresh Rhode
Island at Castle Hill
castlehillfoodfest.com
On Tuesday, August 2, 2011, two dozen local farmers and producers will team up with
chefs from Castle Hill and Newport Restaurant Group to offer live cooking demonstrations,
hors d'oeuvres, a raw bar, local wines, champagne and live music. It's the perfect
opportunity to sit by the ocean at Castle Hill and celebrate our own local farmers,
fishermen and food artisan's. Get your tickets early before they sell out.
Iggy's
iggysdoughboys.com
When I think of summer, Iggy's comes to mind. Iggy's is one of Rhode Island's famous
landmarks. They started out in Narragansett in 1989 with a menu consisting of just
doughboys, chowder and clam cakes. Over the years, the menu has grown to over 30
items and they have added one more location. A few months ago, I was surprised to
see that they are now offering some healthy options on the menu. I tried the baked
fish and it was great! It's now easier to enjoy one of Rhode Island's summertime
favorites while still eating healthy.
Lincoln Creamery
#401-724-1050, 276 Front Street, Lincoln, Rhode Island Summertime is the perfect
time for ice cream! Take a visit to Lincoln Creamery and try one of their many Fat
Free Frozen Yogurt flavors. They have a lot of flavors to choose from and they taste
great! Or try a creamery closer to home - most now offer great tasting fat free
frozen yogurt.
Kempenaar's Clambake Club
newportclambakes.com
KCC has been serving Newport County for over 65 years. The facility can be rented
for a private function and they do all of the work! Compete in a game of horseshoes,
volleyball, lawn bowling, or just sit back and enjoy the attractive grounds before
the "Bake's Ready" bell rings. Every July, Kempenaar's also offers an old-fashioned
clambake which is open to the public. Complete with all of the customary clambake
fare in traditional Ocean State style. Take a look at their website to see what
their all about!
