Take a look and see if laser hair removal is for you.

Laser hair removal is the process of removing hair from the body by means of a highly concentrated light. This laser light is attracted to pigment (melanin) which is abundant in black and brown hair.

It's easy to become a little apprehensive about laser hair removal, however it is a simple concept to understand. First, a sophisticated laser hand piece is lightly pressed against the skin. Once firmly in place, the laser pulses into the skin for a fraction of a second, searching out all of the dark hairs that occupy the follicles under the skin. Once located, the laser heats up the hair, disabling the hair growth cells and destroying the follicles ability to grow another hair. Large areas of hair growth can be effectively treated in a minimal amount of time.

Not all laser hair removal technology is the same.

Researchers began experimenting with laser hair removal in the 1980's. This technology became available to consumers during the mid 1990's, however the early technology was very limited. Over the years, significant advancements in the technology have occurred. Today, more and more laser machines have flooded the market, making the choices for laser procedures seem endless. However, not all laser machines are equal in their effectiveness in treating unwanted hair. With all the options available on the market today, choosing a hair removal practice can be very confusing.

We have chosen a state-of-the-art system specially designed to remove unwanted hair faster, and with more reliability than any other system.

Our choice in laser hair removal is the Light Sheer laser, which is regarded as the world's most advanced and the gold-standard laser for hair removal. And best of all, it has been approved by the FDA for treating all skin types, allowing us to treat from the lightest to the darkest of skin on both men and women.

Commonly Asked Questions

  • Is laser hair removal permanent?
  • Laser hair removal is classified by the FDA as "permanent hair reduction". What this means is that laser hair removal treatments will typically eliminate 85% to 95% of hair growth. The small amount of hair that remains is usually much finer, light in color and not very noticeable. If, however, a client would like to remove these remaining hairs, they can be permanently removed very easily with electrolysis.

  • How long does it take to complete treatment?
  • Typically, it requires about 6 laser treatments to get the desired results. This can vary, however, depending on the area being treated, the color of the skin, the texture of the hair, and how well the client adheres to their treatment schedule. See photo gallery.

  • How often do I have to come in for a treatment?
  • The time between treatments varies based on the area of the body being treated. Typically, the time between treatments range from 6 weeks to 4 months.

  • Is it expensive?
  • We strive to give our clients the best treatments available at an affordable price. Our fees are based on the size of the area that is being treated. Call 401-232-5336 for your free consultation and we will be happy to discuss your individual situation.

  • Are there any areas that cannot be treated with laser?
  • Laser hair removal is a fast and effective way to remove hair from almost any area of the body, however, there are some guidelines to remember. Laser is not effective for hairs that lack pigment such as white, grey, blond or red hairs. Extremely fine hair is also difficult, since there is little pigment involved. Laser hair removal is also not permitted on the eyebrow area. In all these cases, electrolysis is recommended as an alternative.
